Introduction
Risk Assessment of chemicals in the aquatic environment is a subject of interest for many European researchers and water managers. An important element of such assessments is the estimation of so-called “Predicted Environmental Concentrations” (PECs) as a result of a source of chemicals (or a collection of sources). In many cases, exposure models are used to provide such estimates.
The Course on Basic and Advanced Exposure Models, discusses various aspects of exposure modelling as detailed in the Course Programme.
The course targets scientists as well as professionals involved in quantitative assessments in support to water management (“end-users”). The course provides hands-on sessions where attendants can work with the models, and even set up their own models for a study area of their choice.
In this way we try to achieve that specialists from different fields as well as endusers can learn from each other, thus strengthening the European research ambition as well as the interface between policy and science.
