Deltares and Noorderzijlvest extend long term partnership

During the coming year Deltares will continue to assist the Noorderzijlvest Waterboard (Groningen) in improving their water system. The focus will be primarily on the further optimization of the flood forecasting.

This collaboration began one year ago and both parties are positive about it. Noorderzijlvest Waterboard can now cope better with uncertainties in water level expectations. In addition, they can manage the pumping stations and coastal works more effectively. This saves energy and results in a substantial cost reduction. Moreover, they are better equipped to anticipate extreme rainfall, such as the floods last January.

For Deltares this collaboration provides the opportunity to apply and further refine the practical knowledge on flood forecasting. On the basis of this experience, the Delft-FEWS software will be developed further, so that soon other water authorities will also be able to benefit from it.
