assignment/short description
To what extent of climate change will the current water management and water policy in the Netherlands remain adequate? Deltares analyzed for the Dutch government to what extent of climate change the current water management and water policy in the Netherlands remains adequate. This involves a vulnerability analysis of the complete water system. We refer to the level of change as an adaptation tipping point. In the project, we identified the sectors (themes) of water management and the areas in the Netherlands that become affected first through climate change. The result is a picture of effects of climate change that need measures most urgently. In consultation with stakeholders, we derived adaptation strategies. We applied effect modelling and cost-benefit analysis to assess the long-term effects of these strategies.
