OpenDA Course – Delft3D FM Model improvement using observations

Combining observations and computational models enhances the value of both. It allows for more accurate predictions with computational models and it enriches observations with a more comprehensive view of what is happening in your system. OpenDA is an Open Source toolset that lets you quickly couple observations and computational models. It has been developed at Delft University of Technology, Deltares and VORtech.

In this course you will be introduced to the fundamental concepts and functionality of OpenDA, applied to a Delft3D Flexible Mesh model. Using this basis, a straight-forward method of coupling a model and observations in OpenDA is treated. The course combines theory, experience and hands-on exercises, leaving you prepared to successfully use OpenDA in combination with any model. Experience with hydrodynamic models is not necessary. Clearly, it will help you interpret the results of the hands on exercises, but after this course you should be able to quickly use OpenDA for other types of applications as well.
