Deltares is an independent, Dutch-based research institute and specialist consultancy for matters related to water, soil and the subsurface. We develop knowledge in partnership with the industry and in government funded research programmes.
Our Unit Hydraulic Engineering, Department Harbour, Coastal and Offshore Engineering is currently seeking an:

Offshore Expert Scour and Bed Protection

The department of Harbour, Coastal and Offshore Engineering is mainly involved in projects related to hydrodynamic loads, morphological impacts and design conditions for coastal and offshore structures. Typical projects are related to offshore wind and the oil and gas industry. We work with a wide range of tools, from numerical models to physical scale models and engineering software. The design of scale models and development of numerical tools is an essential part of our work.

The Job
Your main activities are to:
• Work on challenging projects related to offshore wind parks, oil and gas structures and offshore line infrastructure, such as pipelines and cables.
• Perform specialist advice and research in the field of offshore morphodynamics and structural design (scouring, bed protection).
• Model and test offshore structures in Deltares’ hydraulic facilities, such as basins and flumes in which currents and waves can be generated. Typical projects involve research on scour development and bed protection.
• Analyze field measurements to validate numerical and physical models.
• Assist and advice clients in developing safe, cost-efficient and sustainable designs.
• Assist in innovative applications of the latest technology and products in this field.
• Publish your work in relevant journals and provide presentations at conferences.

Your profile
• You have an MSc in Coastal Engineering or Offshore Engineering or similar and about 10 years of experience.
• You have excellent analytical skills and a PhD would be beneficial.
• You have good theoretical knowledge on marine hydraulic processes.
• You have numerical and physical modelling experience.
• You are fluent in speaking and writing in English.
• You have a network in the offshore industry (oil&gas, offshore wind etc.).

The team
The Harbour, Coastal and Offshore Engineering department is formed by approx. 35 enthusiastic professionals working on various marine infrastructure projects. In R&D and non-standard consultancy projects we combine concrete practical relevance with high standards for quality. We achieve this by continuous development of state-of-the-art knowledge and techniques, combined with a high level of client interaction.
