For the unit Deltares Software Centre we are looking for a Project Leader Software Development

Deltares delivers knowledge that makes a difference through high-quality, validated and user-friendly software that is continuously developed. Our software is leading on a global scale and is applied by engineering firms, governments and knowledge institutes. The software is used for solving societal issues such as the consequences of flooding, sea level rise and coastal development, but also for the design of flood defenses, land reclamation, water distribution and energy transition.

The software is developed by the Deltares Software Centre (DSC) unit. Within this unit, numerical simulation software is developed, using various techniques such as flexible meshes, high performance computing, modelling frameworks and game engines. Deltares is investigating the application of new technologies for water and subsoil, for instance the use of global data, advanced measuring and monitoring, artificial intelligence and robotics.

What can you expect as a Project Leader Software Development?

In your role as project leader, you are responsible for the management of software projects from proposal to the product release. With your organizational talent, communication skills and drive for quality you make sure that you achieve the desired outcome of your projects within time and budget, and according to set quality standards.

In the teams, you cooperate with approximately five to ten team members. You motivate your colleagues and create an optimal atmosphere for teamwork and high-quality software development. You know how to connect with different kind of people and direct them on project content. You manage project schedules, deadlines and the accompanying budget.

Another important task will be informing our clients and stakeholders during the entire project. You communicate with stakeholders and you manage perceptions. To make sure your project will be successful you need to be able keep the end user in mind.

What does Deltares expect from you as a Project Leader Software Development?

  • You have obtained your degree in Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Mathematics or a similar degree program;
  • You have demonstrable experience with the management of software development projects, in which a team has worked according to an Agile method, such as Scrum;
  • You have experience in a role as product owner;
  • You have experience with requirements engineering;
  • You are result-oriented, set priorities and report on time.
