An analysis of complementary approaches of various stakeholders that strengthen participation of local communities (specifically women and youth) in the governance of water ecosystems (considering the water-capture area, source and flow) and in the provision of water services, resulting in equitable and reliable water security and strengthened climate resilience.

Future Flows: Co-Creating the Green Water Knowledge Agenda

By connecting science, governance, finance & practice, this working session aims to explore the current knowledge base, gaps and needs on green water and the wider hydrological cycle through expert speakers’ contributions and interactive mapping workshops in the run up to the 2026 UN Water Conference’s Green Water Flagship Initiative.

Water Peace and Security: The Missing Link – Turning Water Data into Action for Peace

Join this session to explore how the Water, Peace and Security partnership is moving forward to combine predictive data tools with inclusive dialogue processes to help communities, governments, and international partners move from identifying water-related risks to preventing the conflicts they can trigger.

Community Centered Early Warning Systems for Climate Resilient Cities

Climate impacts are intensifying, and urban Early Warning Systems (EWS) often fail to reach the most vulnerable. This session showcases how cities can codesign inclusive, community centred EWS, drawing on Arup’s multi-hazard EWS work in Peru, Deltares' global work on EWS, and C40 Cities’ community-focused work in Lagos and Rio.

Green Water Governance - need for a new framework?

Green water underpins food security, ecosystem health, and climate resilience, yet remains largely invisible in water governance and policy frameworks. This session will explore how to address green water governance gaps stemming from a fragmented policy and institutional landscape, data and monitoring gaps, and lack of standardized indicators.

Water and climate projects often highlight success while side-lining setbacks. This interactive workshop reframes failure as a catalyst for accountability, equity, and progress. By fostering open dialogue and collective reflection, participants explore systemic barriers and identify practical pathways toward more just and water-secure futures.
