Green Climate Fund is currently in the process of defining Strategic Framework documents setting out its ambition in all their sectors of climate change mitigation and adaptation. These framework documents will define Green Climate Funds priorities, scope of ambition, and mandate to engage in climate change mitigation and adaptation projects. To complement the Strategic Frameworks, practical guidelines are proposed for each sector, including the water sector. Recently, Green Climate Fund has started the initiative to formulate guidelines for transformative water projects. The purpose of this special event is to inform the international water community about this initiative, discuss opportunities for participation, and seek early feedback on the proposed development process and content of the guidelines. The water sector guidelines initiative is supported by the Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Water, Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency and Deltares.
