About Jorijn Holstvoogd

Jorijn Holstvoogd is a consultant/researcher working on various geohydrological issues. He holds a BSc in Engineering Geosciences and an MSc in Water Management. In his previous position at an engineering firm, he gained practical experience with various dike reinforcement projects and infrastructure projects. He also has extensive experience with a wide range of groundwater modeling techniques. He enjoys working on complex geohydrological problems, using his broad knowledge base to find practical, applicable solutions.

His work mainly contributes to moonshot 5 “Resilient Infrastructure” and moonshot 2 “Making the World Safer from Flooding.” Within moonshot 5, he focuses primarily on the effects of soil subsidence due to groundwater lowering on infrastructure. For moonshot 2, he works on geohydrological issues surrounding dikes, including the failure mechanisms of macrostability and piping. In addition, he is committed to the further development of geohydrological tooling and software. In this way, he contributes to the mission of Deltares.
