Integrated assessment of shallow and deep subsidence in New Orleans combining literature review, groundwater–subsidence modeling, and InSAR analysis (2004–2019). Distinguishes near-surface oxidation and compaction from deeper aquifer-system consolidation due to pumping. Finds current subsidence rates generally lower than historic peaks but locally high and strongly anthropogenic. Highlights seasonal shrink–swell effects and recommends integrated groundwater management and long-term monitoring.
