Jarl Kind (MSc) obtained his Msc. in Economics at the University of Amsterdam in 1996. From 1996 till 2000 he worked abroad as a natural resource economist in Africa and Asia. In 2001 he joined the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management and worked largely on economic analysis of climate change adaptation projects (flood management and water scarcity).

Jarl Kind joined Deltares as a senior economist in 2008. In 2011 he finalised a societal cost-benefit analysis to determine economically efficient flood protection standards against flooding for the entire Netherlands, a study which was conducted in the context of the Dutch Deltaprogramme.
