Klaudia Horváth
Dr. Klaudia Horváth is an expert in the field real-time control of water systems. She has more than 10 years of research background on application of model predictive control on irrigation canals, lakes, waterways. She is currently working on operational flood forecasting systems in combination with real-time control operations, such as hydropower systems. She also worked on scenario studies of water distribution based on optimization. Her expertise is analyzing water systems and provide solutions about real-time control and flood forecasting using RTC-Tools and Delft-FEWS software.

JIP Slim Malen - Smart drainage of Dutch lowland
The Netherlands, 2016-2018
Positions held: researcher
Main project features: It is possible to save 60% of the pumping costs with smarter water management.
Activities performed: The component of hydraulic structures for RTC-Tools optimization software have been developed with colleagues. Pilot project for Waterboard Rivierenland is developed: an optimzation model in RTC-Tools is created and connected to a FEWS system. Year 2015 was calculated with the optimized pump control and without and results were compared

RTC-Tools simulation model for reservoir management
United States, 2016-2018
Positions held: researcher
Main project features: Implementing a simulation model built by RTC-Tools in Linux based FEWS system for National Weather Service.
Activities performed: The code for a simulation model for Mud Mountain reservoir was written. The simulation capabilities of RTC-Tools have been extended.

Efficient on the fly probabilistic verification
The Netherlands, 2019
Positions held: researcher
Main project features: Use ensemble forecast to calculate advice over controlling sluice gates.
Activities performed: Ensemble model predictive control is implemented on Lake Volkerak using RTC-Tools. The water level has to be kept between certain bounds while making decisions on when to release water to the sea through a gate. For the sea water level forecast a ten-member ensemble was used.
