Integrated planning and design in the Southwestern Rhine Delta
The Southwestern Delta of the Rhine, Meuse and Scheldt are the “laboratory” for the development of this method. The urgency of establishing balanced planning in this Delta has increased with the launch of the national Delta Programme. The IPDD project is being developed in close collaboration with this Delta Programme.
The method establishes a new relationship between knowledge development, research by design, and the establishment of public support. Important components are a retrospective study and an international comparative study. The retrospective study is intended to generate information about the specific nature of the delta. The international comparative study will focus on refining the method to transform it into a generally applicable method.
