Aquifers

These aquifers are separated by less permeable layers, the aquitards. The effect of dewatering on lowering of groundwater is not only manifest in the aquifer in which it is situated but also influences other aquifers. Dewatering can affect the groundwater head in higher and lower lying aquifers due to vertical groundwater flow through the aquitards.

Sources and wells can be placed in various aquifers. The well filter covers the full height of the sand layer. In addition, MWell is very suitable to study the operating of geohydrological management systems because wells can be turned on and off.

Also the program enables the calculation of the groundwater flow around and the leakage through watertight structures, such as sheetpile walls or cut off walls.
