Assessment of shallow subsidence vulnerability in New Orleans based on 72 boreholes, groundwater level analysis, historic maps, LiDAR and InSAR data. Identifies peat oxidation, drainage compaction, and groundwater lowering as key drivers. Produces a city-wide vulnerability map linking geology and groundwater conditions to subsidence risk. Concludes that groundwater management and targeted urban planning measures are essential to reduce flood risk and long-term land loss.
