This report describes the development and validation of an advanced Delft3D FM model that successfully reconstructed the morphodynamic evolution of the Western Scheldt between 1955 and 2020, showing good agreement with observed erosion, sedimentation, and dredging volumes. The results demonstrate that the use of multiple sediment fractions is essential for reliable simulations and indicate that approximately 40 to 47% of dredged and disposed sediment is recirculated within the estuary. The model provides a valuable tool for evaluating future sediment management strategies and supporting the resilience of the Western Scheldt in the face of sea level rise.
