Dr. ing. Joost Stronkhorst is an expert in the field of integrated coastal zone management.

As a senior advisor he has been involved in many coastal developments in the Netherlands over the last 30 years, including the Delta works, research on sea pollution and source control measures,regional sediment management, the Dutch Delta program for climate adaptation, the development of decision-support-systems and coastal monitoring programs.

He is involved in policy analysis for governmental agencies, which often include the framing and scaling of management questions and the science-policy interaction. His main fields of interest are the sustainable development of coastal areas in a broad sense (safety, economy, ecology) and the opportunities for adaptive management.
