About Ashraf Al-Mohagry

Ir. Ashraf Al-Mohagry is an advisor and researcher at Deltares, working in the Hydraulics for Infrastructure and Industry department. He holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Malaya, Malaysia (2020) and an MSc in Civil Engineering and Management from the University of Twente, the Netherlands (2023).

For his master’s thesis, he investigated the entrainment of saltwater by freshwater in bathymetric depressions. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), he analyzed both a small-scale laboratory cavity and a full-scale scour hole in the Haringvliet Estuary to understand the behavior of the saltwater-freshwater interface.

At Deltares, Ashraf works primarily on hydraulic analysis of pipeline systems, specialised consultancy, and software development and support for WANDA. He also gives courses on water hammer and the use of the WANDA software.
