About Bregje Brinkmann
Bregje works as a researcher at Deltares for the European project TULIP. Within the department of Ecology and Water & Water Quality (EWQ), she develops a pan-European model to map the spread of antimicrobial resistance via plastic pollution in rivers. This way, she aims to identify hotspots of plastic-facilitated antimicrobial resistance in European freshwater systems. By supporting mitigation strategies, this work is aimed to contribute to healthy water and subsurface systems.
Bregje previously worked as a passionate researcher in the field of nano-ecotoxicology, studying the effects of nanomaterials in aquatic ecosystems. She also gained experience with microbiome research, student supervision, and the design and coordination of interdisciplinary teaching activities in environmental sciences.
