About Carlijn Meijers

Carlijn Meijers works for the department of Ecosystems & Sediment Dynamics and has a background in coastal engineering at the TU Delft. In her work at Deltares, she specializes in sediment dynamics and morphology.

Carlijn works predominantly in complex and dynamic coastal areas and estuaries, for example the Wadden Sea and the Western Scheldt. She uses a combination of models, data-analysis and morphological system understanding to unravel the development of these areas. She is involved in projects on the evolution of coastal areas under sea level rise, optimizing dredging works to match natural dynamics, and recovery of valuable coastal ecosystems such as mangroves and salt marshes.
