About Charlotte van Strien

Charlotte van Strien is a researcher/advisor in the field of freshwater availability in rural areas and has been working at Deltares since 2023. She holds a master's degree in Hydrology from Delft University of Technology.

At Deltares, she works on projects concerning the impact of climate change, water management and land use on freshwater availability in the Netherlands on a national scale and at the landscape level. By taking into account the effect of and on our land use (drinking water supply, nature and agriculture), she works on transitions and long-term adaptation strategies for sustainable water management. To this end, she uses her knowledge of (ground)water systems, climate adaptation and scenario thinking, and applies fieldwork, data analysis and hydrological modelling.

In addition, Charlotte has diverse experience with international projects on the vulnerability of river basins to climate change and water management and the possibilities for adaptation in an uncertain future.
