About Dana Stuparu

Dana Stuparu is an advisor working on climate adaptation at Deltares. She joined Deltares in 2013, after graduating from Delft University of Technology with a M.Sc. in Risk Analysis and Environmental modeling. Her main expertise is on climate risk assessments and climate adaptation, with focus on the development of approaches to support decision-making under uncertain climate and socio-economic futures. Dana has more than 10 years’ experience in working with the European Commission, development banks and local governments to provide advice on flood risk reduction and climate adaptation. Key tools in her work are the dynamic adaptive policy pathways (DAPP) approach for climate adaptation, tailored risk strategies and multiple frameworks for multi-hazard and multi-risk management. Within her work, Dana is very keen on translating the highly technical information from scientific studies into understandable and meaningful information.

Ms. Stuparu has co-led execution and management of several international and European projects on topics related to flood risk assessment, climate change adaptation and risk reduction strategies. Since 2023, she is the Regional Manager for the European Balkan region.
