About Eric Huijskes
Eric Huyskes’ background lies in water management. Specific areas of focus during his career are flood risk management, water management, dredging and disposal of contaminated sediments.
He has worked as project manager as well as lead specialist in numerous complex projects in the fluvial, coastal, polder and maritime environments, combining various disciplines such as engineering, spatial development, socio-economics, institutional and environmental aspects. In particular since 2010 there has been a strong focus on flood emergency management.
He has been involved in projects covering the whole project life cycle from policy development and evaluations, to EIAs, to detailed design to contract administration and site supervision. He has undertaken reviews & evaluations of flood management capabilities and capacities in Singapore, South Africa, The Netherlands and several countries in Eastern Europe.
Since 2012 he has been the project manager for the specialist services provided to the Housing & Development Board in Singapore regarding the Polder Development at Pulau Tekong. This concerned various detailed studies as well as supporting the Client with review advice regarding the engineering and construction phases. In this period, he also managed the preliminary design of Smart Polder concept for the polder, covering early warning systems, hydro information systems and the smart dike.
To date he has lived one-third of his life outside of The Netherlands and has worked in approximately 20 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.
