About Gerrit Hendriksen
Gerrit brings over 30 years of experience in tackling spatial data challenges, spanning topics such as species distribution, automated application of digital elevation, and pre- and post-processing of (ground)water models and combining vector as well as raster data sources. He specializes in enabling FAIR (spatial) data using open-source technologies, adhering to global standards for data exchange and metadata and acts in a strategic way.
Gerrit excels in analyzing clients' needs and converting these needs into durable, maintainable spatial web applications that offer a wide range of products. His work has been implemented in various projects within and outside Deltares (national, EC and beyond), supporting the goals of Moonshots 1 and 3.
Notable products he co-developed include:
- The Coastal Hazard Wheel application, which has been in use for five years, providing users with information on multiple hazards for coastlines worldwide.
- The groundwater toolbox, a quick-scan tool that models the impact of measures on groundwater levels.
Gerrit is known for his optimistic nature, collaborative approach, and enthusiasm for continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
