About Marjan Fathian
Marjan Fathian is a geotechnical engineer at Deltares, specializing in soil-structure interaction and the assessment of structures such as dikes, quay walls, tunnels, and embankments under dynamic loading. She holds a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering and works on both the development of finite element kernels in C++ and Python and their application in geotechnical modeling, with a focus on soil behavior. Her work contributes to Deltares’ goals of better protection against flooding and resilient infrastructure.
Marjan has gained experience by modeling a wide range of geotechnical problems and assessing the validity of in-house software through consultancy work. She has also contributed to improving usability by developing lightweight graphical interfaces for internal tools.
