About Mostafa Saleh
Mostafa Saleh bridges the gap between technical coastal modeling and real-world impact across the Middle East and Gulf region. "I see my role as translating complex hydrodynamic science into solutions that governments and communities can actually use," he says. This approach directly enables delta life in some of the world's most climate-vulnerable coastal regions.
As operations coordinator for Deltares' Middle East and Gulf activities, Mostafa manages the delicate balance between technical excellence and stakeholder engagement. He coordinates project delivery across the Gulf states and Egypt, working with government entities, research institutions, and private clients. His soft skills in cross-cultural communication and partnership building prove essential in a region where trust and long-term relationships drive success.
Mostafa's work addresses critical societal challenges. Coastal communities across the region face rising sea levels, increased storm intensity, and rapid urban development. His modeling work supports climate adaptation planning and sustainable coastal management in areas where millions of people depend on coastal zones for their livelihoods.
Key projects and successes include:
- Coordinating regional partnerships that strengthen Deltares' presence across UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt
- Leading technical delivery of operational forecasting systems that help coastal managers make data-driven decisions
- Building capacity through training and knowledge transfer, ensuring local teams can maintain and extend modeling capabilities
Mostafa specializes in 2D/3D hydrodynamic modeling using Delft3D. His technical focus spans plume dispersion, metocean studies, shoreline evolution modeling, and data assimilation. He combines this technical depth with project management expertise developed over 5+ years in international coastal engineering.
With an MSc in Hydroinformatics, Mostafa brings both analytical precision and practical problem-solving to complex multi-stakeholder initiatives. His ability to navigate between detailed modeling work and high-level strategic discussions makes him effective in supporting Deltares' mission across the diverse and dynamic Middle East and Gulf region.
