About Roy van Weerdenburg

Roy van Weerdenburg has been working at Deltares as a researcher and advisor on sediment dynamics in coastal systems since 2019. He studies the transport of sand and mud in tidal systems such as the Dutch Wadden Sea, and in estuaries such as the Western Scheldt. At Deltares, Roy works on projects related to coastal morphology, siltation in (navigation) channels, and the dispersion of sediment and its effect on water turbidity. He collects and analyses field data and makes extensive use of numerical models in Delft3D.

Since 2023, alongside his work at Deltares, Roy has also been working as a PhD candidate in the Coastal Engineering section at Delft University of Technology.
