About Sacha de Rijk

Sacha de Rijk is a strategic advisor with in-depth expertise in ecology and water quality. She plays a clear role as a knowledge leader within her field. She provides direction and inspiration for necessary innovation and knowledge development, thereby influencing the working methods of various departments within Deltares. Thanks in part to her efforts, projects are increasingly being approached in an integrated manner: the functioning of ecosystems is becoming a natural part of projects and advice, ensuring that they are better aligned with current societal challenges.

In her current role, she is responsible for several complex projects. She excels at managing and motivating multidisciplinary teams, collaborating effectively with market parties and knowledge institutes, and monitoring progress and quality. Her leadership style is clear and based on trust. She strives to create a positive, professional working environment.

Sacha is particularly driven to improve biodiversity. Together with market parties, governments and NGOs, she works on projects involving new monitoring techniques and the ecological restoration of lakes. She is a member of the knowledge and innovation working group of the Delta Plan for Biodiversity Recovery. She is also active at European level, including in the Water Europe Expert Group on Water & Biodiversity and in various Horizon projects.

In addition, the energy transition has her undivided attention. With her professional expertise, she contributes to sustainable and innovative solutions aimed at developing future-proof energy supplies.
