About Sanne Juch
With her broad interdisciplinary background (BSc Future Planet Studies and MSc Earth Sciences, UvA), which emphasizes systems thinking, integrated analyses, and collaboration, Sanne works on water-related issues within the disaster risk cycle.
She conducts stress tests and risk analyses, such as the Case Study Zuid-Holland: 'Analysis of Large-Scale Pluvial Floods' and the regional stress test for pluvial floods in Rijn Maas Monding (RRM), to identify climate threats and provide governments with insights into potential risks. This supports preventive measures and preparations for water overload and flooding.
Additionally, Sanne contributes to improving water crisis management, notably within the Forecast Informed Decision-Making Lab, where she helps crisis organizations make well-informed decisions based on (uncertain) hydrometeorological forecasts. She has also contributed to the Handbook “Building and Working with Crisis Scenarios”, which supports water managers and crisis coordinators in developing and utilizing scenarios during crises.
Finally, in the recovery phase, Sanne contributes to the Recovery portfolio, assisting in the development of sustainable recovery strategies after climate disasters.
Through her work, Sanne directly supports Deltares' mission, ‘Enabling Delta Life’, by translating scientific insights into practical applications that strengthen resilience against water-related risks. Her interdisciplinary approach makes her a valuable link between science and practice within the water sector.
