About Sarah Rautenbach

Sarah Rautenbach obtained her Master of Science on Marine and Coastal Systems at the University of Algarve, Portugal. She has a solid background in Ocean Observation Systems, with focus on in-situ measurements of biogeochemical and physical parameters. Her hands-on experience includes the installation of marine observation platforms, equipped with instruments such as ADCPs, CTDs and vertical profiler carrying sensors for dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and conductivity. She has experience in marine data harmonization and processing as well as the skills in bringing scientific datasets up to FAIR standards, which she evolved in the Data Management Service Group of the EMSO-ERIC consortium.

In her current role as Junior Advisor and Researcher at Deltares, Sarah focuses on tool development for climate adaptation and advisory applications. She has delved into flood impact modelling and gained the technical proficiency to translate scientific knowledge and models into software through Python coding.
