About Suzanna Zwanenburg

Suzanna’s main activities include physical model testing, knowledge development based on physical modelling results and translating new knowledge to a practical application.

Recently her activities include mainly physical model testing in the Delta Flume, mainly related to flood safety. Examples are the research programme on the erodibility of clay subject to wave attack, design verification and optimisation of the Afsluitdijk and the stability of placed block revetments. Furthermore, she developed a modelling tool for probabilistic calculations of clay erosion to make the knowledge from the research on clay erodibility applicable for the assessment and design of dike revetments.

In previous years, Suzanna has also conducted physical model tests in Deltares' other hydraulic facilities. Other topics she has worked on include breakwaters, pumping station optimisation, locks, tidal turbines, and prototype testing.
