About Sven Westerbeek

Sven contributes to Deltares' mission by working daily to improve our numerical algorithms. His focus lies on enhancing the speed, robustness, and efficiency of the D-Hydro Suite. With a background in numerical aerodynamics, he previously served as the lead developer of the Delft Harmonic Navier-Stokes Solver, through which he gained extensive expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).

Currently, Sven is developing an implicit solver for the two-dimensional shallow water equations using Julia’s SciML ecosystem. He is also involved in maintaining the D-Hydro FM and 3D computational cores as part of the core solver team.

In addition to his interests in numerical mathematics and CFD, Sven has a passion for music and sports. He plays the guitar and frequently represents Deltares at the corporate volleyball tournament in Delft.
