About Tommaso Boschetti
Tommaso Boschetti works in the Hydraulics for Infrastructure and Industry (H2I) department of Deltares. His expertise lies in the numerical modeling of complex flows near so-called “wet structures”, such as locks, dams, storm surge barriers and spillways.
He uses this specific knowledge on the hydraulic behavior of engineering structures in the improvement of the schematisations applied to coarser modeling modes, for example at the network level. His work contributes to Deltares' mission (Enabling Delta Life) by ensuring that hydraulic infrastructure functions reliably within complex systems such as deltas.
Highlights from projects:
- Numerical modeling of lock complexes in the Netherlands, including IJmuiden, Terneuzen, Beatrix locks, Eefde
- Numerical modeling of complexes flows in pump cellars and industrial spillways (Port of Sohar, Bogotá)
- Scale model study for the new sea lock in Terneuzen
- Hydraulic analysis of the operation of the "Selective Withdrawal" in IJmuiden
- Cooperation with the Autoridad del Canal de Panamá for the update and operationalization of the Lake Gatún Water Quality Model
