About Audrey Legat

Ms. Audrey Legat is advisor at Deltares on water and marine governance. She holds a MSc degree in International Relations (Diplomacy) from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium and a MSc in Environmental Sciences and Policy from Wageningen University, The Netherlands. With a multi-disciplinary background, she is driven to reinforcing the science-policy interface in international projects related to water and coastal management. She works on the social and governance aspects of integrated projects, among others related to coastal development, climate adaptation or Blue Economy. Looking at the impact of water and climate change on the livelihood of local populations, she has initiated a new research track within Deltares aiming at improving the understanding of relocation as adaptation strategy in coastal areas.


Audrey Legat is furthermore committed to developing and strengthening international networks and cooperation on water, in her role of regional coordinator for West Africa. In the past, she has been working at the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) on programs of the Dutch government for Africa and Latin America, where she developed experience in different countries such as Benin, Senegal, Ghana, Madagascar, Panama and Argentina.
