Innovation in action
In recent years, Deltares has helped a nice number of start-ups and SMEs take their innovative design concepts to the next level. Several prototypes have been tested in realistic conditions in our research facilities. With the Deltares SME Challenge, we support the development of innovations that have real impact.

Think, for example, of an artificial reef that generates energy from wave movements, a 3D-printed coral reef that breathes new life into ecosystems, or a biofilter based on fungal technology that converts pollutants into fertile biomass. These pioneering projects are now closer to market than ever, thanks to the invaluable support they received from the experts at Deltares. These inspiring success stories show how powerful innovations arise from the right combination of knowledge, expertise and state-of-the-art research facilities.
